Some people know all about this little tool, other people probably didn’t even know it existed. A KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) switch is a very special device, it puts two or more separate systems at your disposal without need of having separate keyboards, speakers, and monitors. And, if you want to do the opposite you can use it with several monitors and only one PC.

The way it works is that you take your KVM switch device which looks somewhat like this:
KVM-Switch
and this: KVM-Switch
or this: KVM-Switch
and connect the corresponding wires, if you have trouble make sure you read the directions. After everything is hooked up, depending on your KVM switch you enter in a specified key combination in your keyboard, or flip the switch/press a button on your KVM switch, and it’ll change your monitor’s screen over to the other computer. This is handy if you have a regular PC, and a home theater PC, but don’t want to deal with the extra keyboard, speakers, etc, or if you have a main PC and then a server to keep all your files accessible.
