Those of you that own an LCD TV, LCD Monitor, or anything that has a liquid crystal display should know what dead pixels are. These are the pixels that due to manufacturing defects remain unlit. A dead pixel can best be spotted by using a white background on the LCD TV, it will be the only pixel that is not white. There are also such things as stuck pixels which are pixels that are not dead, but ’stuck’ in a certain color like red, blue, green, these are best viewed on a black background. I’ve also seen a stuck pixel that flashes between different colors, so I guess we could call them half-stuck pixels.

Dead Pixel/Stuck Pixel Cures

There are reportedly many cures for your dead and/or stuck pixels. I’ve heard that stuck pixels are 100% more curable than dead pixels, and that dead pixels, no matter what you do may not be fixed. I guess it depends on the kind of dead pixel you have. Some appear to be more dead than others.

With a stuck pixel try taking a soft lint-free cloth and gently massaging the area of the stuck pixel. If that doesn’t work there are software solutions out there that you can try. They work by rapidly changing the colors on the screen in an attempt to ‘reset’ the pixel and fix it. Here’s a thorough run through on how to fix a stuck pixel on an LCD monitor

Here’s a link to an easy tool you can use to “fix dead pixels”, however I don’t think this is correct, because stuck pixels are the ones that you can really bring back to life, dead pixels are mostly always going to be dead and will stay dead.
