5 Most Common Computer Problems And Solutions

Everyone from time-to-time experiences some sort of computer problem, whether the sound stops working, because you forget your keyboard had a mute button, or it can’t connect to the internet when your ISP was outside your house working on the internet line. Some computer problems are just caused by our lack of common sense, and others are caused by many different reasons. So here we take the 5 most common computer problems, and give you solutions to fix those common computer problems.
- Monitor/Printer/Computer Won’t Turn On - Check the cables behind the device that won’t turn on, also check the power strip and the switch to make sure it’s plugged in and nothing is unplugged.
- Weird Computer Noises and Vibrations - If the noises aren’t coming from your speakers then it probably means that a fan is either clogged with dust, about to fail, or is touching a cable or something inside your computer. So open it up and inspect all the cables and the fans to see if you can find the faulty one, don’t forget to check the power supply fan either.
- Computer Overheating - I had this problem before with my first computer, ended up burning out the processor, because the case fans couldn’t keep it cool enough. You can add case fans to your computer, open up the case and point a fan into it, which would temporarily solve your problem. Your computer may just be too dirty to properly cool its components so try doing some computer preventative maintenance cleaning.
- Computer Shuts Off Randomly - This problem is most likely associated with a hardware failure, most likely the power supply. You can try troubleshooting the power supply to see what happens, your best bet would probably try swapping out some components to see if you can pin point the problem. If you’re absolutely certain it isn’t a hardware problem, then you can check your computer for viruses/spyware, because some viruses will shutdown your computer automatically.
- Computer Performance Is Slow - This is probably the most common computer problem. There several factors that affect a computer’s speed, and several things that people do to severely slow down their computer without realizing it. Make sure you perform scheduled preventative computer maintenance, and check to see if you should reformat your hard drive. If your startup is slow you can try speeding up your Windows XP startup.
